The use of a damp screen (= plastic foil) is absolutely necessary when laying all laminate floors, even with attached subfloor. The damp screen prevents problems caused by rising damp, and consequently stops the laminate from starting to swell with damage being caused.
Use of a damp screen (=plastic foil) is generally absolutely necessary when laying a laminate floor. The damp screen prevents problems caused by rising damp, and consequently stops the laminate from starting to swell with damage being caused. Some subfloors have an integrated damp screen. This is the case for the Balterio ComfortSound Base, ComfortSound Plus and ComfortSound Pro subfloors. If one of these three subfloors is used, laying a separate damp screen is unnecessary.
